Framing is a central organising idea or story line that simplifies the volume and complexity of information stimuli, classifies perceived reality through selection… Frames are sets of patterns of relationships between elements of reality such as objects, feelings, entities or any other phenomena. As we encounter new phenomena we build new frames with bits and pieces from existing frames already stored. We perceive reality through frames. It is inevitable to not frame what we perceive as it is involuntary.
Framing essentially involves selection and salience. To frame is to Select some aspects of a perceived reality wheres Salience involves making a piece of information more noticeable, meaningful or memorable to audiences. An increase in salience enhances the probability that receivers will perceive the information.
An example of how we frame in our minds is through starter packs. Below I have created to starter pack to convey framing.
